Peach Garden @ 33

Went to here for some one's farewell dinner. Ordered the $598 set menu (that's for 10 person only) for 24 persons in advance. At the ground floor lobby, we meet by a waitress from the restaurant who confirm our reservation. The lift ride is a bit shaky.

As we meet the requirement for having private rooms (minimum $60 per person), we are showed to a room (nearest to the lobby) with 2 tables. Oh man! The room is real grand. The first thing we see when step in, is the baby grand piano. There is also bar counter with a few seats in fronts of it. The end of the room, there is also another sofa. But the best of all is the view of Singapore outside. Too it is a bit blur. Could be due to the air con and rain that afternoon. Can see Raffles City and Suntec clearly.

The table setting is a bit different from usual. On your right, there is your cup of chinese tea in saucer with cover, knife (not your usual butter knife, really can cut meat one), long metal spoon (usually in chinese meal use soup spoon, but not in this case) and a pair of chopsticks. On your left, there is fork and wet towel in a saucer. In the middle of the setting, is a white plate on top of a bigger light blue plate. And in the center of the table, we are served a couple of small bowls of pasta salad instead of the usual peanuts.

We start with

北 京 填 鸭Roasted Peking Duck

瑶 柱 玉 碟 扒 中 鲍 翅Braised Baby Superior Shark’s Fin Soup with Conpoy

酱 水 晶 凤 尾 虾 炒 露 笋XO Sauteed Crystal Phoenix Prawn with Asparagus

清 蒸 笋 壳 鱼Steamed Soon Hock Fish with Superior Soya Sauce

花 菇 豆 根 扒 时 蔬Braised Mushroom with Fresh Gluten Puff and Seasonal Green Vegetable

蒜 子 豆 腐 焖 鸭 件Braised Duck with Yam and Whole Garlic
I think this is the worst dish of the whole meal. Meat is tough to bite. And too big piece.

In between meal, we have the following additional dishes, 'cos boss not used to having so few dishes.

Wasabi Prawn and Sauteed Prawn with Salted Egg Yolk.
Between the 2, I felt the Sauteed Prawn with Salted Egg Yolk is better as it is more crunchy and easier to eat as it is smaller.

Roasted Chicken
I like the crispy skin and the crispy bits that come with the roasted chicken. Very nice. Wish to have more of the skin.

After that we continue with the Stewed Vermicelli with Shredded Chicken, Salted Fish and Bean Sprout (咸 鱼 银 芽 鸡 丝 焖 米 粉). Normal. Look plain vermicelli with bean sprout and bits of salted fish. Someone remarked that it taste like the vermicelli which is usually found during breakfast in the food court near our office.

Lastly we finished with Chilled Black Glutinous Rice with Sea Coconut (黑 糯 米 海 底 椰). It is a bowl of black glutinous rice with sea coconut and top with a scoop of ice cream. Mmmm.

Only complaint is that the first few dishes are being served a bit slow. Overall everyone like the food here very much. A few cannot finish the last few dishes.

Who is Jesus?

Who is He?
IN CHEMISTRY, HE TURNED WATER TO WINE;
IN BIOLOGY, HE WAS BORN WITHOUT THE NORMAL CONCEPTION;
IN PHYSICS, HE DISPROVED THE LAW OF GRAVITY WHEN HE ASCENDED INTO HEAVEN;
IN ECONOMICS, HE DISPROVED THE LAW OF DIMINISHING RETURN BY FEEDING 5000 MEN WITH TWO FISHES & FIVE LOAVES OF BREAD;
IN MEDICINE, HE CURED THE SICK AND THE BLIND WITHOUT ADMINISTERING A SINGLE DOSE OF DRUGS;
IN HISTORY, HE IS THE BEGINNING AND THE END;
IN GOVERNMENT, HE SAID THAT HE SHALL BE CALLED WONDERFUL COUNSELOR, PRINCE OF PEACE;
IN RELIGION, HE SAID NO ONE COMES TO THE FATHER EXCEPT THROUGH HIM;
SO ... WHO IS HE?
HE IS JESUS!
JOIN ME AND LET'S CELEBRATE HIM;
HE IS WORTHY.
THE EYES BEHOLDING THIS MESSAGE SHALL NOT BEHOLD EVIL,
THE HAND THAT WILL SEND THIS MESSAGE TO EVERYBODY SHALL NOT LABOR IN VAIN, AND THE MOUTH SAYING AMEN TO THIS PRAYER SHALL SMILE FOREVER.
REMAIN IN GOD AND SEEK HIS FACE ALWAYS.
AMEN

The Greatest Man in History ...
Jesus had no servants, yet they called Him Master.
Had no degree, yet they called Him Teacher.
Had no medicines, yet they called Him Healer.
He had no army, yet kings feared Him.
He won no military battles, yet He conquered the world.
He committed no crime, yet they crucified Him.
He was buried in a tomb, yet He lives today.
I feel honored to serve such a Leader who loves us!

Prima Tower Revolving Restaurant

It has been at least 10 years since I last been to this restaurant. Building still looks the same as last time. There are 2 lifts at the main lobby. The second lift is much smaller, fit about 4 persons just nice. There is only 2 floors on the lift buttons: 1 and 9. After reaching the 9th floor, still have to go up by the escalator, follow by a couple of rounds of stairs. One joked that we are revolving while walking the stairs.

In the restaurant, the actual revolving is very slow actually but not very smooth as there is jerking from time to time. I think for the whole our table has revolved 1 1/2 round, 'cos I saw the ship at the harbourfront twice. Not people in the restaurant too. I think only about ten tables occupied.

The first dish is Shredded Scallop With Fish & Egg White. The waiter stirred in black vinger before serving it in individual potion. Taste normal. Had better at other restaurants before.
Second is Shark’s Fin Soup With Crab Meat. Funny thing is that it was served with spring onion pancake.
Third is Peking Duck. One complain is that it is not served with small cucumber, but normal ones.
Next we have Deep-fried Garoupa slices. Don't really like the sauce that served with it.
Followed by Fried King Prawns In Minced Garlic Sauce. Very big pieces of prawns.
Then we have Braised Sliced Abalone With Broccoli. Normal.
Next is Steamed Shanghai Dumplings. Disappointed 'cos when the waiter served, most of dumplings break open. No soup left.
As for the meat left over from the duck, it is used to cook fried rice. You could see the fried rice is all covered with chopped meat.
Lastly we have Toffee Banana, which is dipped quickly in iced water in front of us. It is the best dish of all. Outside is crispy and inside is soft with the banana.

One thing don't like is that they served quickly but they also clear very fast. Wine is not too expansive here. The red wine we have is $56 a bottle I think. Especially I remember a bottle cost about $88 at Melt.

Fosters - The English Rose

Oh my god! I think it will be a long time for me to come to Fosters for a meal again.
When ordering, we were told that the soup of the day is pumpkin soup. But after that, we were told it has been changed to cream of chicken. When the soup come, it was very white. Can only taste of milk/cream. Perhaps it is because it come with the set lunch(Prices:S$12.90 ~ $15.90+++), so cannot complain too much.

Also order caesar salad with chicken and deep fried calamari. The calamari not hot but still OK. The chicken in caesar salad was dry and hard. Had hard time chewing. And they did not give plates for us to share the starters.

Order Tenderloin Minute Steak with mushroom and onion sauce. Remember that I order mid well done so I will not see the blood. But I cut, blood flow out. Those also ordered this said is just OK that's all. There's better nearby.

About 5 of us ordered Emince of Chicken (Sauteed slice Chicken fillet with fresh mushroom sauce). All complained that it was too tasteless and hard. None were able to finish it.

For those who ordered Pan Seared Fish Fillet. It is a rather big potion. But it is actually fish in batter. Not pan seared. Felt like been conned.

As for the oxtail stew, it seems those who had it has no complain. Presentation for that dish has improved a lot since my last visit in March I think.

Lastly for dessert, we have black sesame pudding. Sound weird for an English place. Very sweet and milky. Could barely taste the tea we had afterwards. And they didn't refill my ice water.

Grand Court Vegetarian Restaurant

Ordered catering from Grand Court Restaurant this month. Thought it should be good since grandma has gone there to eat a few times.

The restaurant charged $11/person for 7 dishes and $1 for fruit punch. $2/person for additional dish. Supposed to start at 11.30am. The catering guy finally arrived somewhere past that time. Usually the catering guy will arrive at least 30mins before to setup. We did call up sometimes just after 11am to remind the restaurant.Thought weird why he still have not arrived. Said on the way.

And the god dammed guy can setup halfway and kept talking to his handphone. We end up setting up ourselves.

We had fried noodle, fried rice, mixed vegetables(cabbage, carrot, mushroom), braised mushroom & cai xin, sweet and sour pork, deep fried spring roll, curry chicken, satay and white fungus for dessert. The satay was the first to finish. I think easy to eat and never seem that before. The white fungus was super. It tasted ger la which that it had been cooked a long time. Overall everyone said that the food is good.

When the catering guy come back to clear his stuff, he did not take the dustbin bags of rubbish with him. Left the bags of rubbish there. What kind of service is this. Oh man.

Walked around The Central but all the restaurants seem to be very empty at 5.30pm that day. Seem to have some mee cravings and decide to choose between this and Marutama Ramen which next to it.

Order Cheese curry udon($15.50)
Udon is not bad, but curry is just so-so. Feel very ger la after eating sometime.
Very limited menu by the way.

Canelé

Has been passing this place for sometimes but never eat inside before as it is usually full with only a few tables.

Ordered savory crepes with roasted chicken, figs compote, tomato and gruyere cheese sauce, served with salad ($13.50). Oh man, it is very tasty. The shredded roasted chicken is juicy and soft with very thin and soft crepe. It is a very big potion by the way.

Also ordered Macaron Entremet($9.50) which actually a big sized dark chocolate macaron. Very sweet. A bit sick of eating after a few spoonfuls.

Total damages (include 10% service charge & 7% GST) = $27.07
