Mitsui Japanese Restaurant

Visited Mitsui (come highly recommeded by someone who stayed in Taipei) in Taipei on one Sunday afternoon. Very crowded. We have to wait for sometime before getting a table for 2 at the next door unit. Note Mitsui have another unit at no. 34 and another oppsite called Kyoku.

Cannot decide what to order. Lastly decided to play safe for ordering the 8-course set lunch (NT$1200). The waitress will ask what kind of food you like and try to customise the set lunch to suit you. Like for example do you eat raw fish.


1st course: Prawn salad
Very big prawn. Big chuck of ebiko. After finishing, you could request for the prawn's head to be grilled.

2nd course: Assorted sashmi

Huge serving of tuna which I like very much.

3rd course: Clam

The clam was very big piece and sliced in many pieces for easy eating.

4th course: Grilled King Crab leg

Very big piece and well worth.

5th course: Steam fish with grated yam on top
Unique with yam on top.

6th course: Deep fried scallop on top of yam paste

Yam paste is coated with chopped peanut on the outside. Find it a bit too sweet. A bit weird eating it with a satly dish together.

7th course: Grilled beef

The beef already cut into bit size pieces. Very thoughful.

The Pulot Hitam (dark purple-black glutinous rice) for dessert, which was a unique and sweet finish for a japanese food course.
Total damage : NT$1200 for 8 course set lunch + GST + service charge
Expansive but well worth for such high quality meal. Will come again.

Hey that is the sink in the toilet. Unique loh!
