Bridesmaids the movie

When I asked a friend to watch the movie with me at Lido Shaw Hall 1, I was asked why was the movie M18? Yeah why M18. (M18 rating means you have to be 18 years and above in order to watch the movie).

The movie starts with a bedroom scene with Annie (Kristen Wiig) doing with her ex-boyfriend. Oh man they are in so many positions that it is a wonder that they continue for so long. Yes ex-boyfriend, and she is his number 3. So that's why M18. And she treated it as 'adult sleepover', that's what she told her best friend. It is so funny the way he make her leave, with her end up on top of the gate.

It was an interesting battle of speech between her and Helen at her best friend's Lillian engagement party. When everyone got food poisoning during the gown try-on, it was interesting to know where one can find places to shit on.

What you expect for a over the top bridal shower party? Invitation card with live butterfly? Horses to lead you to the place? Live swans? Live, cute puppies as door gift? Don't know when will I get invited to such a party. The different ways she use to catch the attention of the policeman are so funny.

Overall it is a very interesting and funny comedy movie. I was enjoying and laughing that I almost forget it is 2-hours long.

Would prefer the seared tuna to be more raw in the center in order to enjoy the juiciness of the meat. The overcookness makes the tuna tastes more like tuna flakes.

Abit oily but the salmon is juicy.

Request for middle-rare, but come middle-well. Taste wise well done.

Dessert : Lavender-infused white mousse cake

The disappointment of the meal, tasteless block of frozen whipped cream covered with sweeten mousse and topped with sour strawberry slices.

Made a reservation for dinner @ Al Dente Trattoria through restaurant week website 'cos someone wish to a Italian meal. Was abit worry about the food after reading the past reviews online. But the menu online seems well worth of money with its 4 courses for $35++.

But sadly we are served another menu at the dinner. After cleared of the 2nd Entree dish, the dessert setting is placed instead of the main course setting. Seems that our main course order is lost somewhere in the kitchen and has waited abit of time for it. Realised something is amiss when the couple behind us asked for bill and I clearly remember we started our meal before them. Maybe during the restaurant week the restaurant is more crowded than usually and the staff cannot handle it. Overall the meal is decent.

Almost walk past the restaurant the signage is small. Have a homely feel when we stepped into the restaurant and served by a handsome Italian looking man. The food is good. The chef make a effort to takes time to go around the tables. Well done. Beyond expectation for a $25++ lunch.

Received the invitation to the Special after-dark Hippo Tour with Radio 100.3 and Radio 91.3 deejays (31 Mar). Received the sms to meet up at 6.30 ~ 6.45pm at the National Museum as bus will leave at 7pm.

7pm: No bus. Ask the security at the museum if the meeting place is correct. Oh man got the reply that there is no such event. Finally after much confusion, the bus arrived, found the event planner and able to leave at about 7.30pm.
We ended up in the Radio 100.3 bus. Way to start our journey. Yeah!

Yeah!!! Won the tickets to the preview. Lucky got check email. Late afternoon then received it.
Heavy rain, jam along the way to Orchard. Finally made it a bit after 7pm. Oops! Saw someone been turned away at the door 'cos below the age. The boy looked like primary school student.

The movie started in black & white and in still mode. Very unique. Suddenly it came to life in colours with people running all over. Leon Lai is a cop who becomes down and turned to living in a MPV after his wife is killed. He keeps a shaver with him so that he can shave guys' heads when he suspects they are his wife's killer. Weird man. Due to his hard ways with suspects, he always get complaints.

Richie Ren on the other side is the poster boy of the police force. Up 2 ranks in 2 years. On the way to the top job, except for until he got an ex-hooker for girlfriend. On the surface he is successful but behind he has big loans issues. He got himself transferred to Leon's department in order to cover his affair. He hooked up with gunmen to steal the police's drugs that are on the way to be destroyed.

Richie looks like a uncle having a bad hair perm. Especially when the camera zooms in, you can see the pores on his face. Wah lau. There are a lot of heavy shooting and bombing in the movie. The sad scenes really touches one's heart like the part the girl locks in a cage by the mother's boyfriend, the cop who lost his eye and arm in the restaurant's shootout and the poor guy who stand in the middle of the road, carrying bombs(looks like a scene out of Final Destination). Worth a watch.

“A Christmas Carol” starring Jim Carrey opening in Singapore cinemas 19th November 2009

Wow got a exclusive invitation from omy to watch "A Christmas Carol" in 3D somemore in Marina GV.

MMmm.

6.30pm: Got the seats enclosed in card from the guy at GV. G25 & G26. Where are we sitting? Seem very front.

7pm: Finally allowed in. Got 4 persons singing carols in front of the hall. Early Xmas. Queued up to collect the 3D spec. There were Heaven & Earth tea, popcorn and a bottle of sweets. Just the right thing to enjoy movie with.

7.15pm: Started the movie. Jim Carrey has done what he is best in in this movie, all the facial expressions. Just like him in the various characters in this movie. The life-like appearance of the characters are very similar to the real actors. The tone of the movie vary a lot. Can be silly to frightening especially in the ghost of yet to come part. Having 3D make one feels that you are flying with the characters in the screen.

Received an exclusive invitation to mid-autumn celebration at Hua Song Museum. The last time when I have been to the place was last year for company chinese new year's lunch. I could remember that we took up the whole Food Hall room ('cos got 88 people so need big room). It seems that the restaurant has since closed down. Don't know what will become of this place then.

Reached there just before 7pm. Oh man! Where are everyone? It seems that most people are taking the shuttle bus and have not arrived yet.

Good for us. We can explore around the museum in leisure.

Anyone for a game of baby mahjong?

Wow it is a nite down the memory lane for us especially my grandma.

I think we are supposed to wait for the second shuttle bus to arrive but everyone are hungry. So we attacked the kuehs to fill a bit of our hunger.

The must have mooncakes from various brands divided into 2 tables. Then we need tea to wash down the mooncake taste but seems that the tea has not been made yet. The handmade snow skin mooncake are nice and they made on the spot. Talk about freshly made ones. There is also simple lantern making and calligraphy.

Finally the buffet dinner starts. There is fried rice, fried mee hoon, fried fish nuggets, fried chicken bits and stir-fried vegetables. Most can be heard making noise about how to eat rice with only forks. Yeah 'cos no spoons can be found.

My grandma still not full so we left midway the event for the food centre where she can her fill of BBQ seafood. Wish the event will be better next time.

to share and Wakaru Ramen($9.80) for myself -> the cold ramen with the japanese salad sauce like dipping sauce is very refreshing for a hot afternoon, Katsu Curry Don($12.80) for A -> very crispy for the katsu and Miso Ramen($9.80) + orange juice for J -> which the miso soup is not bad, not salty as the usual ones. After repeated requests for iced water, finally got it when we almost finished our meal.

Like the Crab Tartine which it used real crab meat instead of the usual crab stick used in most sandwich. As for dessert, chocolate cream for Nana and Crème brûlée for me. But they ran out of chocolate cream and Nana end up with chocolate Crème brûlée. The Crème brûlée were taken out of fridge, top with sugar to melt with a flame by the wait staff. Taste not bad, but a bit cold.

Ordered the spicy chicken soup from $9.90 set lunch menu. Very filling and tasty. The meat is very soft which showed that the soup have been cooked for a long time. Always like coming here, 'cos got the large variety of side dishes and washing down the spicy food with ice cold tea. End the meal with a cup of cold ginger tea and a piece of heart-shaped watermelon.
For 2 person, it is about $25 (including $1/ pax for barley tea and $1/pax for 7 bowls of side dishes).

Order from Dolci this month. Cakes are all in different fancy boxes. In normal white square box, another in pinkish cute box and last in another similar yellowish box. Service a bit of a mess. I even forget about the candles and knife.

Strawberry Meringue ($61/kg)

Cherry Motello Cake ($41/kg)

Beware it melt very fast and difficult to cut. I used the chopping board knife.

Nutella Cake ($37.50/kg)
Most said the best combination will Nutella filling with the cherry cake base. Wow Sinful man.

Went to MOF. Nice glass wall seat, as we can see everything in the ground floor from our seats.
But service in the branch is very bad. Took a long time. Coffee is served without cookie as done in the Marina Square branch. Difficult in getting the attention of the servers. And in the end we were told we not allow to bring our own cake to celebrate birthday, 'cos they got sell their cakes which I didn't see any by the way.

Omelet Soba ($8.80)

The soba seem to have a bitter taste.

Tri color Mochi ($6.50, but $3 with set meal)

Very chewy that we can pull very long with it.

Hog's Breath Cafe

Went to Hog's Breath for Triston's Farewell lunch. I myself ordered the set lunch. Service very slow. Food took a long time to come. And there is only two other tables of 2 and 4 besides having us of 13. Bad choice for business lunch if you are rushing back for meeting after that.

I started with a mug of French Onion Soup. Wish there is some cheese on top too.

Baby Back Pork Ribs ($15.00)

Surprised when the plate arrived.

So small, especially the waitress has told us that it is a big potion.

And end with Mississippi Mud Cake served with cream & ice-cream.
More like hot brownie with a scoop of cold ice-cream.

Plus top with $2 for a glass of ice lemon tea.
